About the salon

Sleeping Beauty is a family business that started in 1999 in Lerwick, Shetland, and grew the unusual way — north to south, through Inverness, Aviemore and Fort William before the Edinburgh branch opened in 2012 in the West End. It reads as a proper salon group with a training culture, not a single room.

Services

The menu is broad and spa-weighted. Facials run from hands-on Elemis to the technology-led Biotec range and clinical-grade Image treatments, including a Signature Enzyme Treatment and vitamin C work. Massage covers relaxation, deep tissue, hot stones and Indian head. Nails include gel polish, IBX repair and Callus Peel. Add brow lamination, lash lift, tint and extensions, threading, waxing, IPL, reflexology and male grooming.

Technology and brands

Elemis anchors the facial menu, with the Biotec platform layering six technologies into one treatment to push results past what hands alone achieve. Image supplies the clinical end — enzymes, peels and vitamin actives. Gel polish is Nails by Mii, spray tanning is St. Tropez, and IBX rebuilds weak natural nails rather than covering them. IPL follows consultation and patch testing.

Team and stylists

The group is directed by Lilac Miller alongside her mother Glenys Miller, who took the business from its Shetland roots into a multi-site company. Therapists are certified on the brand protocols they deliver — Elemis, Biotec and Image each train their own — so a facial follows a set method, not improvisation.

The Space

The Edinburgh salon is modern and set over two floors, which separates noisy and quiet services properly. A private manicure and pedicure suite holds several nail stations and pedicure thrones, so groups sit together without taking over the treatment rooms. Haymarket is an easy walk and the West End tram stop is close.

Who it’s for

Suited to anyone wanting spa-grade facials with real technology behind them, and to people who like knowing a brand protocol is followed properly. The private nail suite makes it a strong pick for hen groups, birthdays and mother-daughter visits.

Questions and answers

Can I book online? Yes, through the group’s own site and its booking partners; phone suits courses and group visits.
