About the salon

Since 2014 Indigo Hair & Beauty has looked after clients on Leith Walk, collecting an unusual amount of silverware for a neighbourhood salon — including Hair Salon of the Year for the South East at the Scottish Hair & Beauty Awards. It is a real hair-and-beauty hybrid, not a hairdresser with a spare room.

Services

Hairdressing runs from a fringe trim to a full restyle, with hair-up and curly blow-dries for events. Colour is the heart of it: regrowth tint and bleach, T-section, half-head and full-head highlights, ombre and balayage, with a toner included in every colour service. Hair smoothing is a two-part consultation booking. Barbering covers skin fades; beauty covers brows, waxing, lash lifts, facials, massage, manicures and Shellac.

Technology and brands

Colour is built on Goldwell, with Olaplex as the bond-repair treatment — it seeks out broken bonds at a molecular level, which matters when a client goes several shades lighter in one sitting. Lash and brow work uses Salon System; nails use CND. Balayage and ombre are painted freehand rather than foiled, so the grow-out line stays soft.

Team and stylists

The team is built to be booked by name: the system asks for your preferred stylist, and staff are kept trained on current techniques. Colour corrections and smoothing always start with a consultation and strand test — the honest way to handle a bleach history you cannot see.

The Space

Indigo occupies a Leith Walk shopfront with a bright, straightforward floor: styling chairs, backwash, and separate beauty treatment space, so a facial is not happening within earshot of the dryers. Late openings on Thursday and Friday make it workable around office hours.

Best for people who want colour done properly — balayage, a full head of highlights, a big lightening project — by a team judged against its peers and awarded. It also works for households: an adult colour, a child’s cut and a skin fade in the same building.

Can I book online? Yes, and the system lets you request a preferred stylist. Colour changes and smoothing need a consultation first.

How long will my appointment take? A cut and blow-dry is about an hour, a half head of highlights two to three, and balayage up to four.

Do you cut men’s and children’s hair? Yes to both — barbering including skin fades, and children’s cuts with shorter chair time.

Can I have hair and beauty in one visit? Yes; brows or a lash lift while colour develops is a common pairing.

Are gift vouchers available? Yes, and they can be spent on hair or beauty, which makes them easier to give than one named treatment.
